Travel equipment
CARES Harness
You can bring a CARES Harness to provide torso support and extra protection for your child. Your CARES Harness must:
- Be in safe working condition
- Be the right size for your child
- Be FAA approved
- Have a visible certification label
You cannot use a CARES Harness in an exit row seat or in Business Premier™. Our crew will help you fit your CARES Harness to the aircraft seat.
Front packs and infant slings
During taxi, take-off and landing, your infant must be secured on your lap with a loop belt provided by our cabin crew. Your front pack or sling must be removed and stowed during this time. You can use your front pack or sling after take-off.
If the seat belt sign comes on, you must fasten a loop belt around your infant and the sling or front pack.
Skycouch infant harness and belt
If you have booked a Skycouch seat, our crew will give you a safety briefing and explain when and how to use the infant harness at the start of the flight.
Travel comfort items you cannot use onboard
Some children’s travel comfort items cannot be used onboard for safety reasons. These include:
- CoziGo bassinet covers
- Car booster seats
- Inflatable comfort items, such as Fly Tot, Plane Pal, mattresses and multi-use travel pillows
- JetKids BedBox ride-on suitcases
- Fly LegsUp hammocks

Car seats
A car seat can help your child feel comfortable on a long flight and provides extra protection.
Infants under 2 years old must use an approved car seat if they are travelling in their own seat. Children aged 2 years and over can use an approved car seat, but it is not required.
Your car seat must:
- Be in safe working condition
- Fit your child, with their arms and thighs within the frame
- Have a visible certification label showing it is approved for aircraft use
- Fit between the aircraft seat armrests
- Allow the seat in front to recline
If your car seat is 43 cm wide, it may not fit your chosen seat.
- Rear-facing infant seats can be up to 42–43 cm wide (16.5–17 inches) and 48 cm high (19 inches).
- Forward-facing infant seats can be up to 42–43 cm wide (16.5–17 inches) and 65 cm high (25.5 inches).
The certification label must be visible so it can be verified by our crew. These are examples of some common certification lables:

Where you can use a car seat
For safety, your car seat must not block access to the aisle. Use Seat Select to choose one of these seats:
- A window seat
- A middle seat in a centre row
- The window end of an Economy Skycouch™
If you use a car seat on an Economy Skycouch™, you will need to remove and stow it if you want to raise the seat footrest or lie down. Car seats are not permitted in the Business class cabin. Car booster seats are not approved car seats and cannot be used onboard.
Our crew will help you fit your car seat to the aircraft seat.
Strollers and prams
You can bring one compact, foldable stroller, pram or pushchair for each infant or child under 12 years old in your group.
It does not count towards your child’s baggage allowance, even if your fare does not include checked baggage. There is no extra charge, and you do not need to tell us in advance.
Travel documents and country specific regulations
Some countries have different rules when you are travelling with a child. You may need to prepare additional documents before you travel.
