Our stakeholders

Our purpose at Air New Zealand is to enrich our country through connecting New Zealanders to each other and New Zealand to the world. 

We are part of a wide network of stakeholders including investors, customers, suppliers, central and local government, the communities in which we live and work, NGOs, our employees, and other businesses. 

Ongoing engagement with our stakeholders 

Ongoing engagement with our stakeholders helps us identify issues that are important to them, and helps guide our efforts on initiatives and activities to deliver on our purpose. We engage with stakeholders on specific initiatives as well as on an ongoing basis. 

Communities Formal meetings and forums, joint participation in working groups, community-based volunteering.
Customers Interaction with frontline employees. Electronic and mail communication including social media. Surveys and research. Feedback forums. Advertising. Collateral or touch points associated with onboard product, including inflight Kia Ora magazine. Media coverage. Website.

Government and Regulators Working relationships with government and policy makers where we communicate about issues such as advancing decarbonisation policies, system resilience, tourism, modern slavery, energy and infrastructure. This includes engagement via the New Zealand Sustainable Aviation Fuel Industry Roundtable. Communicate with sectors of government with respect to off-shore concerns, as reflects our global business. Respond to requests for assistance from Government as may arise at times of national disasters. Regular meetings and discussions with local Government (mayors, councillors) on issues of mutual value or concern.
InvestorsStructured, two-way engagement, which includes regular communications, an Investor website, annual Investor Day, Annual Shareholder Meeting. Webcasting of interim and annual results and conferences. Investor roadshows and individual meetings.
SuppliersRegular formal meetings and working groups with strategic and critical suppliers. Bi-annual formal business updates for strategic and critical suppliers. Implementation of Supplier Code of Conduct. Tūhono Supplier Awards. Aumatua member of Amotai. Whāriki Māori business network is an Air New Zealand collaboration partner.
Tourism IndustryMember of Te Kāhui Tautiaki, the group that governs Tiaki-Care for New Zealand. Member of Tourism Industry Aotearoa, Business Events Industry Aotearoa and New Zealand Cruise Association. Partnership marketing activity with Regional Tourism Organisations to promote domestic and Tourism New Zealand in international markets. Sponsorship of tourism trade events to support distribution of New Zealand tourism products. Providing input into tourism strategy and policy. Participation at tourism industry conferences.
UnionsRegular meetings at all levels, from head to head meetings at the most senior levels, through to joint project teams working together to solve specific issues.

Board of Airline Representatives (BARNZ) BARNZ is an incorporated member society with 29 member airlines, of which Air New Zealand is one. BARNZ represents its members to airports, government agencies and affected communities on matters of airport pricing, airport capex plans, and noise concerns. Member
Clean Skies for Tomorrow CoalitionA global coalition of leaders, led by the World Economic Forum, who believe that together we can accelerate the supply and use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technologies and work to advance the commercial scale of SAF production for broad adoption in the industry by 2030. Member

The Roundtable’s purpose is to promote the uptake of SAF and support government agencies in the development and implementation of effective SAF policy for the benefit of New Zealand. Member

Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil promotes the production and use of sustainable palm oil products through globally recognised standards that apply across the entire supply chain.
