In addition to our Star Alliance partners, Air New Zealand has partnerships and agreements with a number of selected airlines to provide you with even more flight options around the world.
Strategic Alliance Agreements
Air New Zealand has Strategic Alliance Agreements with Cathay Pacific on flights between Auckland and Hong Kong and with Virgin Australia on flights between New Zealand and Australia. These agreements provide Airpoints™ members with the ability to earn and redeem Airpoints Dollars™, earn Status Points on certain flights and enjoy frequent flyer benefits on either carrier in certain circumstances.
Code Share and Frequent Flyer Agreements
Air New Zealand has code share and frequent flyer agreements with Etihad Airways and Virgin Atlantic.
This enables Airpoints Dollars to be earned and spent on specific flights. Airpoints members can also enjoy many of their frequent flyer benefits on those code share flights booked with an Air New Zealand flight number (e.g. NZ4010).
Status Points are not able to be earned on these flights.
Air New Zealand will begin a code share and frequent flyer partnership with SilkAir from 6 January 2015. This will enable Airpoints Dollars to be earned on SilkAir Flights at partner rates. Status Points are not able to be earned on SilkAir operated flights. Frequent flyer benefits are not available to Airpoints members on SilkAir operated flights.
Code Share and Air Share Agreements
Air New Zealand also has agreements with Aircalin, Fiji Airways (formerly Air Pacific), Air Rarotonga, Air Tahiti Nui and Air Vanuatu.
Airpoints Dollars can be claimed for travel on these flights when booked with an Air New Zealand flight number (e.g. NZ4010).
