Air New Zealand Carepoints donations total nearly 250,000 Airpoints Dollars

Air New Zealand's Airpoints™ members have donated nearly 250,000 Airpoints Dollars™ to charity through the airline's Carepoints™ programme.
26 June 2020

The programme enabled the airline and its Airpoints members to give New Zealanders a helping hand by donating their Airpoints Dollars to any or all of three charity partners: KidsCan, Women's Refuge and New Zealand Red Cross.

Air New Zealand General Manager Loyalty Kate O'Brien says Airpoints members have generously donated more than 89,000 Airpoints Dollars to KidsCan, more than 59,000 to New Zealand Red Cross and 100,000 to Women's Refuge.

"We've been blown away by the generosity of our Airpoints members. The average donation was 81 Airpoints Dollars per person, and we've had several individual donations of more than 2,000 Airpoints Dollars, which is incredibly kind."

Air New Zealand General Manager Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams says the airline wanted to work with charity partners that are making a real difference for Kiwis.

"Carepoints builds on the work we have been doing in the community like donating surplus inflight snacks and blankets to local charities and essential service workers. The three charities we've partnered with under the Carepoints programme will receive 100 percent of the donations. We're delighted to have provided a platform to enable our Airpoints members to support New Zealanders in need."

Women's Refuge Chief Executive Dr Ang Jury says they're delighted and grateful to have received 100,000 Airpoints Dollars, which will be used to support women and children women and children experiencing family violence.

"We're thrilled to have been selected as a Carepoints charity partner and to have received 100,000 Airpoints Dollars as part of the programme. Generous donations from a number of Kiwis will make a really huge difference by helping to put food on the table for New Zealanders who really need it."
