Of Fiji's 300 islands, around a hundred are inhabited; the rest are nature reserves populated by wonderful bird life and surrounded by tropical fish filled reefs. That's Fiji in a nutshell - an exhilarating mix of 'civilised' pleasures, friendly people, and nature at its most vivid.

Nadi, on the largest island Viti Levu, is a bustling, welcoming town. An absolute must see here is the new, intricately decorated, rainbow coloured Hindu temple.
Shop in Nadi for quality souvenirs. And, for a bit of adventure, take a 4WD rainforest tour into the hills just behind town.
Denarau, world class luxury
In a mood to spoil yourself? Only 20 minutes from Nadi, the reclaimed island of Denarau offers world class resorts, an international standard golf and racquet club, and a marina. Service here, as in so much of Fiji, is world class: the country's economy relies heavily on tourism, and the locals welcome visitors with genuine warmth and friendliness.
Out of politeness, many Fijians will not knowingly contradict a visitor. So if asking for directions, for instance, it is better to ask "how do I get to Nadi?" than "is this the way to Nadi?" Even if you're wrong, you may well still be told that you're right!
The Mamanuca islands offer something for everyone. There are island resorts which cater particularly for families, with lots of activities for adults and kids. Some islands offer exclusive deluxe surroundings for the more grown up visitor. And, of course, all the islands specialise in full on relaxation. From Denarau it's just a short trip by launch, helicopter or seaplane to their perfect white sands and cool palm shaded interiors.

Fiji Beach Resort
Between Nadi and Suva, Fiji's capital, stretches the beautiful Coral Coast. Well-equipped resorts with fabulous beaches and good surfing cater for every taste and pocket - from families to honeymooners.
Take in a cultural display and get a glimpse at the traditional life style of some of the world's friendliest people.
The Yasawas - return to Blue Lagoon
It says it all that both versions of the ultimate 'paradise in the South Pacific' movie "Blue Lagoon" were filmed here. Dry and sunny, with crystal clear waters, these islands offer some of the world's best diving.
Vanua Levu - up close sea life
Hop a plane from Nausori outside of Suva to this favourite hangout of sport fishermen, ecotourists and yachties. At the waterfront yacht club café, in main township Savu Savu, you'll see tropical fish in the water just inches away from your table.
