Australia - Gold Coast

Welcome to the Gold Coast.

70 kilometres of broad, sandy beaches. 300 days of sunshine a year. Swimmers, surfers and sun worshippers have got it made on the Gold Coast! But it's not just sun and surf. The Gold Coast has bushwalks aplenty and other hinterland experiences.

No wonder the area is one of Australia's most popular playgrounds.

Gold Coast Beach.

The Gold Coast has come a long way from the days when Captain Cook passed the coast in 1770 and named Point Danger and Mt Warning. By 1884 the area was already becoming a popular vacation destination and Cobb & Co. started running coach services from Brisbane, 100 kilometres to the north. Now visitors arrive from around the world.

One of the terrific things about the Gold Coast is the sheer range of experiences. There are canal cruises, just about any water activity you can think of, theme parks for the family - like Movie World, Sea World, Dream World, Wet'n'Wild, and more than a dozen others. And there are walks and interesting drives.
Bring your boots and comfortable clothes and take a bush walk up Mt Warning. You'll be rewarded with a spectacular view.

Head out to the World Heritage Lamington National Park, the largest preserved subtropical rainforest in Australia. Its bird life is out of this world, and the walks are spectacular. The Green Mountains tree top trail is highly recommended.
… or relaxation

Dreamworld, Surfers Paradise.

The Gold Coast is not just an action location. If you're weary, or want to recharge your batteries, the fishing villages of Cabarita, Kingscliff and Pottsville might be just down your jetty, or flyfishing a river in the rainforest wonderland.

The Coast has excellent shopping, and the region's weekend markets offer handmade arts and crafts and fresh produce and local food. If partying is your thing, the nightclub action is concentrated around Surfers Paradise, and Broadbeach is in party mood all year round.
