Air New Zealand has been named Best Airline at this year’s 2010 Which? Awards - the UK’s top consumer magazine with awards independently voted by readers.
The Awards were announced at the British Museum, with judging based on the theme of “Who Cares Wins”, being all about which companies provide the best customer service.
The judges said Air New Zealand performed exceptionally well in the latest Which? Airline satisfactions survey, scoring a maximum five-star rating out of five in almost every category including the quality of its online check-in, seat allocation, boarding arrangements, cleanliness, inflight entertainment and cabin staff.
Air New Zealand received a value-for-money rating of 89% versus the industry average of 66%, with 98% of passengers said they would recommend the airline to a friend.
Air New Zealand beat other finalists Singapore Airlines and Emirates Airline.
“To win a Which? Award, not only must a company offer outstanding products or services, it must also deliver exceptional value and a great customer experience,” said Which? Chief Executive, Peter Vicary-Smith.
“Air New Zealand is a deserving winner of this year’s Which? Award for Best Airline.”
Air New Zealand CEO Rob Fyfe said the award cabinet is filling up.
“The UK market is one of the most competitive with all the world’s top carriers operating there. So for the 36th largest airline to beat them all is extremely satisfying!
“First the ATW Airline of the Year Award, now this, and we’re also a finalist in the Skytrax Airline of the Year Awards to be announced shortly. It’s all good stuff and great recognition for the 10,500 Air New Zealanders who work incredibly hard.”

The Which? Awards were launched in 2007 to reward the very best businesses in the UK. From cars and domestic appliances, to restaurants and high-street retailers, Which? publicly recognises those companies and individuals that consistently get it right for consumers.
Many of the shortlisted companies are selected for their performance throughout the year in the magazine’s Best Buy results, as well as the outcomes of customer satisfaction surveys. Winning a Which? Award is one of the most prestigious accolades a company can receive.
