The awards follow hot on the heals of yesterday’s accolade of being named Best Airline at the 2010 Which? Magazine Awards in the UK, as well as the ATW Airline of Year Award in February.

“This is a fantastic achievement for Air New Zealand”, says Mr Edward Plaisted, Chairman of Skytrax.

“They are clearly meeting and exceeding their customers’ expectations to have been named both the Best Airline Australia/Pacific, and then going on to collect the prestigious recognition of their staff, with the Staff Service Excellence Award.

“The awards represent a true recognition of the front-line product and service that Air New Zealand is delivering to customers, and the award slogan of 'The Passenger's Choice' underlines the fact Air New Zealand is clearly succeeding in satisfying the hardest critics - their users."

The Skytrax Awards were announced overnight in Hamburg and were based on the feedback received from 17.9 million air travellers of 100 different nationalities over a 10 month period between July 2009 and April 2010.

The Which? Magazine Awards were judged on the theme of “Who Cares Wins”, being all about which companies provide the best customer service.

Air New Zealand received a value-for-money rating of 89% versus the industry average of 66%, with 98% of passengers said they would recommend the airline to a friend.
