Cairns is the jumping off point for the attractions of far north Queensland.
Into water sport? Then snorkel and scuba dive the Great Barrier Reef, whitewater raft, sail to tropical islands.
Want more excitement? Skydive from 14,000 feet.
If quieter pursuits are your style, then browse for crafts at country markets, fish for From hill to beach.
Palm Cove is where the foothills of the rainforest-covered mountains meet the palm-fringed beaches of the Coral Sea.
There's no such thing as a solitary dawn walk here: you'll enjoy the company of brightly coloured lorikeets, noisy kookaburras, flocks of sulphur crested cockatoos, wallabies and green tree frogs!
The city of Cairns was recently renovated. Cairns Esplanade, once a huge grassy park, now features world-class outdoor recreation and entertainment facilities, as well as shops and restaurants and an environmental interpretation centre.
Cairns' nightlife caters for everyone. Nightclubs, sophisticated dining, or just sitting back on the Esplanade and admiring the Trinity Inlet are all popular.
Palm Cove has an old world charm, but with splashes of tropical colour among the coconut palms and gardens. The classic Australian architecture, the idyllic setting, glorious sunshine, serenity and security will enchant you.
Experience white water rafting, canoeing, horse riding or trekking. Or get a fascinating glimpse of this ancient world dominated by prehistoric tree ferns by taking a four-wheel drive tour, rainforest cableway, train or coach.
This is a world that will light up your senses: floral scents, flashes of gigantic butterflies, the tiniest of brilliantly coloured sun birds, balmy nights and a magnificent beach front setting.
